SEPT. 15TH TRUNK SHOW - A GREAT SUCCESS!
My trunk show at La Petite Knitterie last Saturday was a huge success, even though I was competing with an appearance by The Yarn Harlot up at the L.A. Public Library. I was overjoyed. The shop looked asbsolutely beautiful with all of my yarn displayed on the tables.

Fellow spinners also had their handspun yarn and rovings for sale. Margie had beautiful natural colored Cormo fleece bagged up, and it all sold except one bag. She promises more soon. Karen, our new retiree, put out some rovings she had recently handpainted; they were lovely and our spinners agreed. I also had some of my handspun yarns set out:

The hit of the day seemed to be my handpainted superwash merino sock yarn. The rack was looking somewhat depleted by the end of the day on Sunday.

Here's a close up of some of the sock yarns that I had for sale. These colors apparently were pretty popular and are just about gone. Guess I'll be working those dyepots again very soon.

Of course, I brought my camera to take pictures, but it got so crowded and busy that I completely forgot I had it with me. But knitter friend, Jerry, came to the rescue. Saturday was just a blur. So many friends stopped by, including Jerry and his wife, Debbie, and their group of knitters, who were on their way up to see The Yarn Harlot. We had spinners on their wheels -- Margie, Miryha, Imelda and Karen. My friends from the South Coast Spinners and Weavers Guild (Marion, Dale and Claudia) came in. Thank you all who stopped by. All in all, everyone had a great day.

By Monday, I was pretty worn out, so I decided to take off this week and just relax, knit and spin. Took a road trip on Thursday with Margie and Karen and went down to La Jolla Fiber Arts Gallery and for lunch. I'm going to the Eastern Sierras, June Lake, next week for six days for hiking and a trip into Yosemite. I'll also relax in the evenings with knitting and spinning and plan on completing the patterns for these two projects: a felted bucket bag and an entrelac scarf.

Well, I'm off to spin at LPK today. This afternoon, I will have my second spinning student of the week. It is great to have so many people interested in handspinning. And keep in mind that National Spinning Week is Oct. 1st - 7th. Get your wheels out and promote spinning, as well as our other handcrafts!

'LABOR' DAY WEEKEND
Paul and I had a "labor" day weekend in the literal sense, redoing my whole dye and work studio. Saturday early evening, I dragged the poor guy over to IKEA to purchase a couple of freestanding kitchen type cabinets for my studio, and we loaded them up into the VW van -- the old work horse. It is so wonderful to have a spouse who is supportive of your dreams and endeavors. We "stopped by" the new mega Whole Foods Market in Tustin -- a total mob scene on a Saturday night -- and got totally lost trying to get there. What was supposed to be a quick trip up to IKEA and back turned into more than 4 hours; we ended up home at 9:30 p.m., starving and eating a very late dinner. I really do push my luck sometimes.

Next day on Sunday, in the sweltering 106 degree weather, I cleaned out, vacuumed and reorganized my sunroom studio and got it ready. I sucked up more dust bunnies than you can imagine.

Paul spent most of the day and way into the evening assembling my two new cabinets. IKEA is famous for bags and bags of screws and whatnots. [That's why their stuff is so affordable.] You always cross your fingers that every little nut and bolt is there so you don't have to make the dreaded trek back to IKEA. Finally everything was put together and we darn near busted our backs moving these monsters into the sunroom.


Yahoo! On Monday, the room was all done and ready. I'm so organized! It looks very good and the new set up makes working out there so easy. I spent the "cooler" morning skeing out yarn and then the rest of the oppressively hot day, in and out of the pool in the 106 degree heat and then crocheting under a big umbrella. I managed to stay cool and maintain my sanity.

Well, here's some of the yarn I skeined up for my September 15th trunk show at La Petite Knitterie. Lots of good Fall sock yarns, angora, alpaca, silk, and merino/silk. There will be other new things to come, too.

So for now, I'm going to get back to work. It's supposed to be 10 degrees cooler today -- oh, you mean it's only going to be 97 degrees. I feel better already!
